Horse Rain Sheets

A horse rain sheet, also known as a turnout rain sheet, is designed to protect a horse from the rain while they are turned out in a pasture or paddock. It is made from waterproof or water-resistant material such as nylon, polyester, or Gore-Tex, and is designed to be breathable to allow sweat and moisture to escape from the horse's body.

Rain sheets come in different weights, with lighter options designed for mild rain and heavier options for heavier rain or colder temperatures. Some rain sheets also come with a lining made of fleece or other material to provide additional warmth during colder weather.

Rain sheets are important for horses because prolonged exposure to rain can lead to discomfort, illness, and even injury. A wet coat can cause a horse's body temperature to drop, leading to hypothermia, which is a potentially life-threatening condition. Additionally, wet skin can lead to skin irritations and other health problems, such as rain rot, which is a skin infection caused by bacteria and fungi that thrive in damp conditions.
